How does this eBay/Paypal scam work? [closed]
I received an email today:
We want to express our appreciation for choosing us to handle your
payment needs for your latest transaction. It's a pleasure to welcome
you as our client. To locate your order, please use bill number
3866744-71/9F. We are honored to have assisted you with the
transaction and highly value your trust in our abilities. Attached is
the invoice in PDF format for your reference. Our priority is to make
transactions easy, fast, secure, and efficient.
Attached to the email there is a PDF confirmation for the payment of an iPhone, purchased apparently on eBay. I didn't buy anything from eBay and according to the attachment I have already paid for the purchase.
It looks like the sender claims to be Paypal: "We want to express our appreciation for choosing us to handle your payment needs".
They don't ask to click on any link but there is a phone number on the invoice. How does this scam work? They expect me to call to cancel?
