I am trying to recover lost or overwritten data using HxD, something weird happens when i search for a string inside HxD [migrated]

I am trying to recover lost or overwritten data using HxD, something weird happens when i search for a string inside HxD [migrated]

I am trying to recover lost or overwritten data using HxD, but something weird happens when i search for a string using the search all option in HxD: it finds my string in the search section (bottom) but the representation of it is a series of dots ...... with a series of zeroes in 00 00 00 00 hex representation.

It also sometimes show me garbled data too where the string was found...

Is it finding hidden data? Is it a glitch in HxD? How can i recover such string?
